You can get information about benefit and entitlement counseling for older adults (age 60 and older).

Case workers provide help at participating Older Adult Centers (previously known as Senior Centers). 

All visitors and staff entering Older Adult Centers must follow face covering and social distancing guidelines.

Case managers can meet an older adult in their home if they are homebound or frail.

Case workers meet with older adults at participating Older Adult Centers. This is for adults age 60 and older.

Case workers can help with:

  • Information
  • Advocacy
  • Benefit and entitlement counseling
  • Navigating the social service system

Find Local Case Assistance

Find an Older Adult Center. Call ahead to confirm that the Older Adult Center participates in this program. If no one answers, leave a message with your contact information. You will get a call back.

SCRIE Application Assistance

You can also get help with your Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) application. Many Older Adult Centers that provide case assistance can help you with your application. You can ask if they provide SCRIE help when you make an appointment. They can also help you apply for a SCRIE renewal.

Case managers meet with homebound or frail adults in their home. This is for adults age 60 and older.

A person is considered homebound if:

  • They are unable to leave home without help
  • This is due to a physical or mental illness

Case managers can help with:

  • Supportive contact
  • Authorization for home care
  • Home delivered meals
  • Adult care services

You can receive a referral to a local case management agency if you are:

  • Homebound or frail
  • Age 60 and older

  • Contacting your local case worker

Depending on your address and situation, you may be advised to go to a different location.

SCRIE Application Assistance

Case Management Agencies can help homebound older adults who cannot go to an Older Adult Center for case assistance, and who do not have anyone who can come to their home to help them, to complete an application for the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE).

These agencies can also assist with SCRIE renewal applications.

You can make a complaint to the Department for the Aging (NYC Aging) about case assistance services provided by an Older Adult Center.

Staff at Older Adult Centers by NYC Aging provide older adults with information, referrals, and benefit and entitlement counseling.

  • Call volume is often high. If you get a busy signal, try again later or email agingconnect@aging.nyc.gov. Agents are available during business hours.

You can make a complaint about case management agencies that are contracted by the Department for the Aging (NYC Aging).

NYC Aging cannot accept complaints about:

  • Adult Protective Services (APS) workers
  • HRA CASA workers
  • Community Guardian workers

These case managers are employed by the Human Resources Administration (HRA). To make a complaint about case managers employed by HRA, submit City Agency or Worker Feedback to HRA instead.
