You can submit a renewal application online or in person at an IDNYC Enrollment Center. Appointments are released each week on Friday, for the following Monday through Friday. You are encouraged to submit your renewal online.
In general, you may renew your card up to 90 days before it expires, and up to 1 year after it expires. If your card expired more than 1 year ago, you will need to apply for a new IDNYC card at an IDNYC Enrollment Center.
IDNYC has expanded the renewal period for all cardholders whose cards expired between 2020 and 2024. If your card expired between this timeframe, you may renew your card through December 31, 2025.
If your card expires in 2025, you may renew your card 90 days before the expiration date or within one year after the expiration date. After this date, you will not be able to renew your card and will need to submit a new application at an IDNYC Enrollment Center.
If you choose to submit a renewal application online, you can update information on your card (such as address, email, phone number or emergency contact) through the Quick Renew Process. Some changes may require you to upload and submit a scanned copy of your documentation to make the change. Other changes (such as name or date of birth) may require you to complete your renewal in person at an IDNYC Enrollment Center.
After you submit your renewal, you should receive your IDNYC card in the mail in approximately 14 business days.
Online

You can renew your IDNYC online using your IDNYC number, which can be found on the front of your card. If you do not have your IDNYC number, you can renew online but will need to sign up for an account with IDNYC before renewing your card online.
In Person
You must make an appointment to visit an IDNYC Enrollment Center except for sites where walk-ins are welcome on certain days. Visit the IDNYC website for walk-in site information.
