New York City families can get help with public school enrollment and admissions at Department of Education (DOE) Family Welcome Centers.
Appointments are not required but recommended.
Family Welcome Center staff can support with:
- Questions about admissions
- Guidance for students new to New York City
- Enrollment
- Information about offers and waitlists (after offers are released)
- Adding your child to waitlists and accepting/declining offers (when waitlists are open)
You should not visit a Family Welcome Center if you are:
- Enrolling in a New York City Public School and interested in attending your zoned elementary or middle school
- Transferring from another school to your zoned elementary or middle school
Instead, visit your zoned school to register.
To transfer from your current 3k or pre-k program, visit MySchools to be added to a waitlist or contact the program directly.
Please note that FWCs are experiencing a large volume of enrollment requests. FWC staff are working to reach out to families on their requests as soon as possible.
Centers may be closed on holidays. Check DOE's website for information.
