Local Law 18 of 2021 changed how mobile food vendors can get a new full-term (year-round) citywide or non-Manhattan mobile food vending permit. A supervisory license is now required to apply for these permits.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) has established a waiting list for the citywide and non-Manhattan supervisory license. The waiting list for supervisory licenses for veterans and people with disabilities opened on March 13, 2026. Applications must be sent by email or mail and postmarked no later than April 28, 2026.

Until April 24, 2026, you can request an application to be mailed to you for the waiting list for supervisory licenses for veterans and people with disabilities.

Licensed mobile food vendors must take an online refresher course in food protection and safe operating practices and pass a final exam every four years to maintain their license. 

The course takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and is free. Registration is required.
